Our friendly volunteers are waiting to welcome you aboard and invite you to soak up the atmosphere of our award-winning heritage railway through the sights, sounds and smells of yesteryear. Take in the authentic railway buildings, get up close to a mighty steam engine and climb aboard a lovingly restored carriage. Listen for the whistles and watch for the green flag as you experience the ambience and nostalgia of a bygone era. The railway is also a popular film and TV location featured in The Railway Man, Outlander and many more productions. We also offer pre-booked afternoon tea and visitors can explore Scotland’s largest railway museum, The Museum of Scottish Railways.
